India has welcomed the global sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council (UNSC), under India's Presidency, against Pakistan-based Haqqani militant network, said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
"India welcomes the move by the UN Security Council to list the Haqqani Network among the entities that now face an asset freeze, a travel ban and an arms embargo," said an official MEA spokesperson.
"This Group has also targetted Indian interests in the past. The international community has to be united in its efforts to isolate such terror groups which threaten peace and security in our region, and other parts of the world," he said.
