The Kerala Government has decided to increase bus fares as per the recommendation of Justice Ramchandran Commission.
Briefing newspersons on Cabinet decisions here today, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said "the Minimum bus fare in City and Town service has been increased to Rs six from Rs five, the Fast Passenger bus fare from Rs 7 to Rs 8. The Super Fast bus fare to Rs 12 from Rs 10, Super Express fare to Rs 17 from Rs 15 the Super Deluxe charge from Rs 20 to Rs 25, the Luxury/ Hi-Tech charge from Rs 30 to Rs 35 and the Volvo from Rs 30 to Rs 35." The charge per km has also been raised. The Minimum Charge in City/Town service has been hiked from 55 paise to 58 paise, in Fast Passenger service from 57 paise to 62 paise, Super Fast fare from 60 paise to 65 paise, Super Express from 65 paise to 70 paise, Super Deluxe from 75 paise to 80 paise, Luxury/ Hi-Tech from 90 paise to 100 paise and for Volvo from 100 paise to 120 paise, he said.
The concession charge for students in buses has also been revised. It has been increased to Rs one from the current charge of 50 paise.
