PM non-commital on attending Copenhagen summit

On Board PM's Special Aircraft, Nov 29 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said its too 'premature' to say whether he will attend the Copenhagen Summit on climate change on December 16-18.

Speaking informally to reporters, the Prime Minister said United States President Barack Obama and French President Nicholas Sarkozy invited him to attend the summit.

''It is too premature to say anything right now,'' the PM said.

Dr Singh, who held a bilateral meeting with Mr Sarkozy at Port of Spain yesterday on the sidelines of the CHOGM, mainly discussed climate change. The subject also came up in the bilateral meeting between Dr Singh and Mr Obama at White House in Washington on November 24.

The French President said at a press conference in Port of Spain yesterday that India should attend the Copenhagen summit ''if it wants to be heard''.
