Mumbai, Apr 12 : Indian-American physician and Padma Shri awardee Dr Sudhir M Parikh is planning to establish about 20 to 25 clinics across the country for treating asthma and other ailments.
While talking to reporters here today, Dr Parikh, who recently received the Padma Shri from President Prathiba Patil for social services, said he was in talks with the Mediciti Hospitals Group of Andhra Pradesh to establish 20-25 clinics that would provide treatment mainly for asthma, sinus and allergies. The clinics were expected to be set up this year itself, he added.
He also said most of the treatment would be free or at the concessional rates.
In India, Dr Parikh is also associated with many social service activities, especially microfinance initiatives for empowering women.
A native of Gujarat, Dr Parikh is also the chairman and publisher of New York-based Parikh Worldwide Media that owns publications such as the News India Times and The Indian Americans.
