Agriculture minister urges students and scientists to adopt one village

New Delhi, Jan.16 : Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh on Thursday underlined the importance of fundamentals of agricultural growth for the development of country.

He mentioned improved soil health, high productive seeds, modern agriculture practces and best practices, effective irrigation facilities, water to every agricultural land, apt marketing facility for agricultural produce are essential points for development of agriculture as a whole.

Singh was presenting his views on the occasion of a function titled "Agri@8pc - Challanges and Way out" in New Delhi today.

Complimenting ASSOCHAM for organising the function, Singh emphasised the need to create awareness among farmers about best practices in the agriculture sector.

He urged students and the scientist faternity from agriculture to create awareness among farmers by adopting at least one village of their hometown with the theme of "Mera Gaon, Mera Gaurav".

He also mentioned that there are approximately 20,000 scientists and 50,000 students from agriculture,who are graduates or PhDs' of agriculture.

The function was jointly organised by Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Food processing industries, Government of India, Department of Science and Techonlogy, Government of India, Department of Biotechnology, Government of Bihar and NABARD.
