SilkAir to fly to Bangalore, Chennai

Thiruvananthapuram, March 20 : SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will soon fly daily to Bangalore and Chennai.

The airline would introduce the flights between Singapore and Bangalore from May 17 and between Singapore and Chennai from June 14 to compliment Singapore Airlines' existing daily flights to both cities.

"SilkAir is very excited to introduce services to these two cities. We see good prospects for growth in air traffic to and from India. And we are pleased to strengthen our presence in India with the addition of these two new points," said SilkAir Chief Executive Chin Yau Seng.

In all, the Singapore Airlines group will offer two daily flights to Bangalore and Chennai.

SilkAir began operations to India in June 1999 and has steadily built up its Indian network over the years.

With the addition of Bangalore and Chennai, SilkAir will now fly to six cities in the country. The other destinations are Kochi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Coimbatore.

SilkAir flies to 31 destinations across 11 countries. Last year, the airline was voted the best regional airline in the TTG Travel Awards for the 10th time, making it eligible to enter the TTG Travel Hall of Fame from this year.
