Chennai, March 19 : You may not be a cricketer, but you can sure get a taste of what it means to be part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Go for the special menu that a restaurant here has drawn up keeping the team members' culinary preferences in mind!
From Sunday, Cappuccino - the 24-hour coffee shop at Sheraton Park Hotel and Towers - will dish out to its guests 'The Super King's World Menu'. They are the official hoteliers for the Indian Premier League (IPL) here, after all.
"The menu is made with the consent of the players," executive chef Parveen Anand told IANS. It will contain gastronomic delights that the CSK cricketers have confessed their weakness for.
A look at the menu reveals that the CSK players like to quench their thirst with rose milk or a mango smoothie - when they are not busy devouring rivals on the field.
While it takes butter chicken with extra butter to stump team captain and wicketkeeper M.S. Dhoni, foodie Mathew Hayden loves to have several helpings of prawn curry with kal dosa.
M. Muralitharan gets bowled over by steamed idiappam with chapa pulusu while Suresh Raina satiates his hunger off the field with grilled chicken sandwich.
Club sandwich and banana milkshake form all-rounder Albie Morkel's power play combo. Parthiv Patel is content with home-style dal tadka, steamed rice and jeera aloo while fast bowler L. Balaji is happy to be served pepper chicken gravy with veechu paratha.
Medium pacer Joginder Sharma gives the thumbs up to pindi channa with bhatura and right hander Subramanian Badrinath loves mutton biryani with baingan ka salan and raita.
CSK's coach Stephen Fleming likes to dig into braised lamb shanks with barbeque sauce and baguette. And guess what the '12th man' in the menu card is? None other than the thayir saadam/curd, pickles and the pappad as they go well with most other items.
And you can have all this on a platter, feeling right royal like a 'super king'. Howzzzat!
