Don't fall in trap of Babas: Mayawati

Lucknow, Mar 16 : In a clear hint to yoga guru Baba Ramdev who launched his own political party, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati on Tuesday said people should not fall in trap of 'such Babas'.

"Some Babas are planning to float their own parties with the help of their disciples and contest elections. But you should not fall in the trap of these babas," said the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief.

She further said 'such Babas' are 'only concerned' about 'minting money'.

"They are 'ichchadhari' people. These gurus and Babas do nothing but mint money by selling their prescriptions to the people in the name of teaching (yoga)," Maya said.

Meanwhile, Ramdev, without naming Maya, challenged the government to track down fake gurus.

"What is the meaning of ichchadhari? It is evident some of them are corrupt and are conning people. These days there are many people who are conning people in the name of faith. They must be punished. The government must bring in more stringent laws to punish such people," Ramdev told reporters.

Launching his own political party 'Bharat Swabhimaan', Baba Ramdev on Tuesday said his candidates will contest all seats in the next Lok Sabha elections.

Asked what made him foray into politics, Ramdev said he wants to 'cleanse' the system.
