FBI visit, proof of Indo-US cooperation against terror: US

New Delhi, Dec 8 : The United States today described the FBI team's visit to India and their discussions with Indian authorities as a 'clear and concrete evidence' of the cooperation between the two countries against terrorism.

US Ambassador to India, Timothy J Roemer, said in a statement here that both the countries were working closely 'as partners better than ever before' to share information on the Headley-Rana case and working to detect and prevent future threats.

He said the FBI visit and briefing of Indian law enforcement officials was a clear and concrete evidence that the US and India were fulfilling President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's vision of 'unparalleled and unprecedented cooperation' in the counter-terror arena.

'The visit of FBI and Justice Department team is a direct follow-on to the Counter Terrorism Cooperation Initiative launched during the historic first state visit of the Obama Administration.

Both the countries are working together to share information on the Headley-Rana case and working to detect and prevent future threats,' the Ambassador said.

He said the US and India were working as partners better than ever before to facilitate information sharing, build capacity to prevent and respond to terror threats and assist in the prosecution of those who commit terror.

The FBI team which held discussions with Indian officials here yesterday, was also scheduled to visit Pakistan for further deliberations on the Headley-Rana case and further developments on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
