Mumbai, March 14: Eminent Marathi litterateur and Jnanpith Award winner Govinda Vinayak Karandikar died here Sunday morning, a family member said. He was 92.
Karandikar, who was better known as 'Vinda', died at the Guru Nanak Hospital in Bandra east, his son Uday Karandikar told IANS.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter. His wife had expired last year.
Karandikar's body will be kept at his residence in Sahitya Sahwas in Bandra east to enable people to pay their last respects Monday.
"As per his will, his body will be donated to Sir J.J. Hospital later," Uday said.
