US condemns Lahore bombings

Washington, Mar 13 : US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday condemned the multiple bombings in Lahore.

The United States extends its deepest sympathy to the victims of bombings in Lahore, and to the families and friends of those killed and injured. There is no justification for killing innocent people, Clinton said in a statement.

She added that the coordinated multiple attacks demonstrate the suffering that violent extremist elements are willing to inflict on the people of Pakistan -- people who only wish to go about their daily lives in peace. and #8234; and #8234;

"We commend Pakistan for its stalwart fight against extremism and the commitment of Pakistan's security and law enforcement forces to protecting the Pakistani people from violence and intimidation. The United States stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Pakistan in their aspirations for peace and security," the statement said.
