Four injured in refrigerator blast

New Delhi, March 13 : Four members of a family, including two children, were injured early Saturday when the compressor of their refrigerator exploded in their home in east Delhi's Shahdara area.

A fire department official said: "The family of four included a man Ramesh, his wife Raina and their two children aged three and half and one and half years."

"Early in the day, Raina saw smoke bellowing from the fridge. As soon as she opened its door, there was a blast," he said.

"All four family members were injured in the blast and were rushed to the nearby Shanti hospital. However, there were no serious injuries," the official added.

The blast took place due to the malfunctioning of the fridge's compressor, he added.
