How Rakesh Roshan named his film 'Kites'

Mumbai, March 12 : He was gazing at the sky, looking at kites flying and the moment inspired filmmaker Rakesh Roshan to pen down his forthcoming romantic saga "Kites" about love going beyond boundaries and cultures.

"The idea for 'Kites' came to me when I was gazing at the sky and saw two kites flying. It looked very romantic. It was very intriguing - the way they came close, played, almost embraced each other and then drew apart - unaware that someone else was pulling the strings and could cut them loose. I sat down and penned a story around this idea," Roshan said in a press statement.

Commenting upon the title of movie, director Anurag Basu said: "Kites is the metaphor of the film. Kites fly against the wind and not with it - the stronger the wind blows, higher the kites fly. Our protagonists in the movie too face obstacles; their love grows deeper with every increasing obstacle."

Basu has penned the screenplay for the movie that features Hrithik Roshan, Mexican actress Barbara Mori and Kangana Ranaut.

"Kites" is being made in Hindi and English. It has been shot in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Santa Fe. Reliance BIG Pictures will release it on May 21 in over 60 countries.
