Asha Parekh wins GR8! Women Award

Mumbai, Mar 10 : Hindi film actor Asha Parekh was presented with the Golden Laurel for her outstanding contribution to Indian cinema at the recently held Kelvinator GR8! Women Awards 2010 here.

Eminent women from different fields like Science and Technology, Sports, Medicine, Advertising, Law, Beauty, and Banking and Finance were honored and felicitated for their relentless work in their respective fields.

Some of the award winners were Shahnaz Hussain for Entrepreneurship, Saroj Khan for Choreography,Meghna Malik for Television; Pooja Chopra (Miss World-Beauty with a purpose, 2009) for Beauty, child artistSparsh won the young achiever title.

Along with the award winners, the award presenters were also high-profile like noted lyricist Javed Akhtar, yesteryear baddie Ranjeet, critically acclaimed actress Shabana Azmi, National Award winner director Madhur Bhandarkar and others.

The evening had dazzling performances by Bollywood actors Arshad Warsi and Dia Mirza; television artists like Neha Marda, Jaswinder Kaur and child artists like Swini and Ishita.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sushmita Sen were seen enjoying and cheering the performances and were also honoured with a prestigious title.

The award function will be telecast on Thursday at 8 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
