New Delhi, Mar 10 : Congress leaders were evasive on Wednesday on the granting of anticipatory bail to 1984 Sikh riots accused and party leader Sajjan Kumar, who was missing for days only to appear before a Delhi court to obtain an anticipatory bail.
"Judicial matter we don't interfere. It is for the court to say," said Law Minister Veerappa Moily outside Parliament.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit also played it safe and passed the buck on court though she admitted that judicial system should be reformed to stop delay in justice.
She said it is the court which has taken its decision.
"I don't want to comment on anything that court does or not does," she said, admitting that "justice get delayed in our country and lot needed to be changed".
Holding that justice delayed is often justice denied, she said "but he got the bail and the court has given it."
The court granted an anticipatory bail to Sajjan Kumar accused in the 1984 riots after furnishing a bail bond.
Sajjan Kumar got bail along with and nine others by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lokesh Kumar.
He was missing for days and mysteriously appeared before court on Wednesday and got anticipatory bail.
Kumar appeared in court after non-bailable warrants were issued against him and others by a city court
