Mumbai, March 10 : Shiny disco balls hanging from the roof, an artificial mirror set with a pavement and a balcony, models dancing to '"Saturday Night Fever'... it was a retro end to the five-day Lakme Fashion Week (LFW).
Designer Suneet Varma presented the grand finale here Tuesday night in great style along with Indian fusion group Midival Punditz, which did the live background score for the show and played yesteryear songs like "Play that Music" and "This is the way I like it".
The theme of the show was "Night Fever" and Varma took inspiration from the 1970s and 1980s era. The range saw a mix of simplicity, animal prints, bold prints and bling as well.
"I was inspired by the life of 70s and 80s - so the colour palate and the designs and textures were very much inspired by that era. So in all, this was a true representation of celebration of fashion, style and dressing up," Varma told IANS after the show.
"It was an era influenced by pop art, freedom of choice and disco music - that was the theme of the show," he added.
The designer used colours like fluorescent green, shocking pink, deep blues, brown, purples and black. The line had hot pants, trendy beachwear, kaftans, shirt dresses, saris and long dresses.
