Man charged over Indian toddler's death in Australia

Melbourne, Mar 7 : Australian Police have charged a man over the death of three-year-old Indian boy Gurshan Singh Channa, whose body was found on a roadside in Melbourne's north on Thursday, according to a report in The Age and Sydney Morning Herald quoting Australian Associated Press (AAP) on Sunday.

23-year-old Dhillon Gursewak has been charged with manslaughter due to criminal negligence and is appearing in an out-of-sessions hearing at St Kilda Road Police complex on Sunday evening, the report said.

The wire news said the man is not a relative, but did live in the same house in David Street, Lalor as Gurshan.

Earlier, in the first clue in the Indian toddler's suspected murder in Australia, police was hunting for a green coloured car that was last seen near the spot where the body was recovered.

Media reports in Melbourne said on Sunday that police were on the look for a green Holden Commodore car that was last seen near where the body was found.

The autopsy report had also failed to reveal any apparent cause of death. There were no signs of injury on his body, police had said.

The body of Gurshan was recovered near the Melbourne airport on Thursday, six hours after he went missing from his home, about 20 km from the spot where his body was found.

The 3-year-old boy had gone missing from his residence in Melbourne while on a holiday to Australia. His family hailed from Faridkot district in Punjab.
