Women will get real power in India: Farooq Abdullah

By Tahir Nadeem Khan, Jammu, March 7 : Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah has said that women will get the much awaited 33 percent share in real power, which will gradually increase to 50 percent.

In the backdrop of Women's Reservation Bill being presented in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, Abdullah said: " The bill will pass, Women will get their right of 33 percent. It's high time that women, who have been neglected for such a long time from holding real power, I think time has come that they must get equal share gradually to 50 percent one day."

He was also reacting to political parties opposing the Women's Reservation Bill.
The Samajwadi Party, the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) are opposing the bill, though JD-U leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Saturday came out in open support of the move.

Speaking about attacks on Indian interests in Afghanistan, he said, "Nothing can stop India, India will continue to work for good of Afghanistan."

"It has always done that, Afghanistan has been our friend for centuries and we will cement that friendship further and we will continue the good work we are doing there," he added.
