Rape victims to get monetary relief

New Delhi, Dec 7 : Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath Monday said the Centre has a proposal to provide monetary relief to rape victims.

'The government has a proposal of providing monetary relief to rape victims. The details of the scheme are yet to be finalized,' Tirath said in Rajya Sabha on Monday.

She further said that The Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Act, 2008 ( 5 of 2009) has been enacted by the Parliament which inter-alia provides that inquiry or trial in such cases shall, as far as possible, be completed within a period of two months from the date of commencement of the examination of witness ( Section- 309).
