"Almost the entire hill state witnessed a bright sunny day today (Wednesday) after heavy snow in higher reaches in the past four days," Manmohan Singh, director of the Meteorological Office here, told IANS.
He said the mercury in the state declined massively, triggering a fresh cold wave.
Shimla witnessed a minimum of 0.3 degrees Celsius compared to Tuesday's 3.6 degrees Celsius.
While Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district saw a low of minus 12.8 degrees, Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded minus 11 degrees Celsius.
"Both Keylong and Kalpa saw 10 cm and 7.3 cm of snow respectively last (Tuesday) night," he said.
Elsewhere, Bhuntar in Kullu district recorded the day temperature at 1 degrees and Dharamsala in Kangra district a low of 2.5 degrees Celsius.
Singh said another western disturbance would again approach the region between Thursday and Friday, resulting in heavy snowfall and rainfall across the state.
The met office said the weather would remain dry in lower and mid hills but rain and snow were likely in higher reaches Wednesday.
