The deceased is a labour contract officer of the railways and the blast on the track has affected Howrah-Delhi train services.
At least 20 trains have been affected and two have been reportedly diverted.
The attacks, that took place shortly after midnight, come right at the beginning of the 72-hour bandh called by the rebels in Jharkhand, Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal, beginning on Sunday. The bandh has been called to protest joint police operations in the four states to track down Maoists.
Prime MInister Manmohan Singh would meet chief ministers of states to review internal security of the country in New Delhi on Sunday. Terrorism and the Naxal menace is expected to top the agenda at the meet, reports said.
