Punjab Govt to bear noted writer Dhir's treatment expenses

Disclosing this here, a spokesman of the Chief Minister's office said Mr Badal had assured the family of Mr Dhir that the state government would ensure proper medical treatment and care to the ailing writer, who had rendered outstanding contribution towards the promotion of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiat throughout his life.

Mr Dhir, 90, has written nearly 50 books during his over 50 years writing carrer including novels, short stories, poetry, travelogue among others. He was admitted in PGI due to persisting liver-related chronic illness thursday.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the state Government was fully committed for the welfare of all the literary personalities who had relentlessly served the motherland, and it was a humble gesture on the part of government to extend free medical aid to Mr Dhir.
