Additional District and Sessions Judge Gian Chand Garg held Narinder Singh guilty and also fined him Rs.5,000.
According to Chandigarh police, Singh was booked in May 2007 after the victim complained that Singh had raped her on the pretext of giving her a job.
"After completing her graduation, the victim made a call to her friend in the US to help her in finding a job. Her friend gave her Narinder's number," said a police official.
"Narinder called the woman to Chandigarh on May 20, 2007. Then he took her to his house in Sector 34 and raped her. He threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone. One week after the incident, the victim approached police."
