Modi slams Centre on price rise

.....

"There is no united voice, no united vision," he told reporters on the sidelines of the Chief Ministers' Conference on price rise.

"There is no plan in sight. The state governments are ready to help but the centre is clueless," he said in Hindi.

He said he was surprised that the Centre has blamed weather conditions and climate change for price rise.

He also flayed the centre's export policy.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has skipped the meet on price rise and instead sent her representative, sending a political signal.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday said the worst is over so far food inflation is concerned.

"I believe that the worst is over as far as food inflation is concerned. With good crop prospects, remunerative procurement prices being in place and Indian prices being broadly in line with international prices, I am confident that we will soon be able to stabilise food prices," he said at the conference of Chief Ministers and State Ministers of Food and civil Supplies here.

The conference was called to discuss issues related to the recent rise in the prices of food articles and what can be done to control it. The government was under attack by opposition parties over price rise and food inflation.
