Salboni thermal power plant's construction to begin mid-2010

Kolkata, Dec 4 : JSW Energy, a part of the Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group, will begin construction of the 1,600 MW thermal power plant in West Bengal's Salboni by the middle of next year, a company official said here Friday.

JSW Energy's senior vice-president Rajesh H. Ashe told mediapersons that the company has already got all the clearances, including environmental nod, as also water and coal linkages for setting up two 800-MW units.

The captive plant is to be commissioned in August 2015. A steel plant being constructed by JSW Steel in the same plot of land will draw power from the plants.

Seventy five percent of the funds would come from debt, and the rest from the company's equity. JSW Energy will float IPOs for the debt.
