The farmers from Mahuva in Saurashtra, protesting the government move to allot 250 acres of land for the cement plant, were marching towards the high court when they were detained by police. According to Kalsaria, they were detained for a few hours and were later allowed to go.
The farmers are determined to carry their protest forward at any cost, Kalsaria said. "We have made representations at all levels, including to Chief Minister Narendra Modi, and will continue to do so. Next on the cards is a signature campaign in blood and the memorandum will be presented to the chief minister," he added.
The three times legislator, fighting his own party's government, is determined to ensure that the company has to move out of the area. "If the government fails to rectify the wrong, we will take charge ourselves," he said.
"The people have repeatedly reposed their faith in me. I have to stand by them. I have done my duty by representing their cause at all levels in the government," he added.
