January 27, 2011 : Jayaram, the Malayalam and Tamil actor after completing silver jubilee in the South Indian film industry and doing over 200 films is on cloud nine these days and there is reason for it. Jayaram has bagged the Padma Shri this year. Talking to the media tha actor goes on to say that when the news was given to him he was in shock and disbelief.
Jayaram's co-actor and superstar of Malayalam films Mohanlal gave the news to the recipient of the fourth highest civilian award in India. The duo was shooting on Tuesday at Hyderabad's Ramoji Rao Studios when the news started flashing on the news channels. Jayaram was shooting there for the upcoming comedy flick China Town, a multi-starrer movie. At that time, there was a scene where Mohanlal was to whisper swear words to Jayaram's ears. Mohanlal instead of swearing kept on repeating couple of times "Padma Shri Jayaram" and the former mimicry artist felt that the superstar must be making fun.
So Jayaram had a look of "comic disbelief" on his face and the shot for the scene was perfect. It's after that the Four Friends actor realized and believed that Mohanlal was not kidding, instead was telling the truth. Jayaram has been awarded with many awards over the years but this one award is the special one since it is bestowed on him by the Government of India.
