West Bengal Police question Maoist leader in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 19: West Bengal police officers Tuesday questioned Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy at the Tihar Central Jail here after obtaining permission from a city court.

"They questioned him for some two and half hours," jail spokesman Sunil Gupta said.

Ghandy was asked about a criminal case registered against him in Midnapore district in 2008.

The 63-year-old Ghandy, born in Mumbai, was arrested here Sep 21. He is a member of the politburo of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist.
