TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras: Based on the different comments from the International Advisory Group of Experts, GAIPE, and members of the Civic Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras, COPINH, together with other international organizations, Desarrollos Energeticos SA, DESA, reiterates that it is totally disconnected to any act of violence.

Likewise, the Agua Zarca Hydroelectric Project works at all times in accordance with the provisions of the Law in Honduras, respecting human rights and the environment.

Regarding the GAIPE report, which has been funded by COPINH, Agua Zarca informs the international community that last November DESA met with GAIPE members, who had the opportunity to see that Agua Zarca is totally disconnected from any act of violence, as well as verify that it is a project that works to create quality jobs, to improve development of communities and respect for the environment.

During this meeting, Agua Zarca invited GAIPE to set up a Dialogue for Peace, which was rejected by GAIPE through a letter stating that its participation in such dialogue is not part of its mission.

It is important to mention that all interested parties have had access to the information included in the report since May of this year, however, it has been chosen to publish it a few days before the general elections in Honduras. With this, Agua Zarca calls for respect for the institutions and the law in the country, in order to build a better country for everyone.
