New Delhi, Dec 2 : The Delhi government Wednesday informed the Delhi High Court that a school will soon be started in Badarpur Khadar village and it will also be provided electricity.
Submitting an action plan before Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice S. Muralidhar, Delhi government counsel Nazmi Wazhiri said: "We will soon start a school for the 200 students... For the time being (we) will supply electricity via generators as installation of electricity connections will take some time."
Satisfied with the government's move, the bench asked the other agencies to cooperate with the government and file an action taken report by Jan 27.
The court was hearing a public interest petition filed by Social Jurist, an NGO, highlighting the plight of Badarpur Khadar village and how its 600 odd families lived without basic amenities.
"The children of the village have never gone to school because there is no school. Basic amenities such as electricity, drinking water, dispensaries are not available in the village," advocate Ashok Agarwal said.
