Mirpur (Bangladesh), Jan 5 : It was Sri Lanka's Thissara Perera, who sounded India's death knell in the last few overs of the second one day international of the tri series in Bangladesh on Tuesday.
The Lankans beat India by five wickets.
Parera's quickfire unbeaten 15-ball 36 made sure the Lankans rode home safely with two overs to spare. Of course, that does not undermine Thilan Samaraweera's unbeaten 105 off 106 balls.
Batting first, India made 279 for the loss of nine wickets. Opener Sehwag made 47 (31 balls). Yuvraj Singh (74), captain Dhoni (37), Raina (35) and Jadeja (39) also made significant contributions to the total.
Among the Sri Lankan bowlers, Chanaka Welegedara had the best figures of 10-1-66-5, while Harbhajan Singh was the best Indian bowler of the day with figures of 10-1-47-3.
Apart from Perera and Samaraweera, captain Kumar Sangakkara chipped in with a useful 60.
With this second successive win, Sri Lanka are currently at the top of the table in the India-Sri Lanka-Bangladesh triangular series.
