By Pallavi Aman Singh, New Delhi , Mar. 7 : India Beach Fashion Week kicked off in all its stylish glory, on Monday, in Goa with the opening show from designer Anupamaa Dayal, setting the tone for some fashion-packed days ahead.
Strutting down the catwalk, the models sported Anupamaa's latest trend to the fashion conscious.
Speaking on her collection, the fashion designer told ANI, "I worked with four modern colour palettes - fuschias, reds, camels and monochrome (black and white). It showcases lots of romance and graphics. There were lot of long sleeves; I told my girls that they'll be like fashionable orangutans."
"This one was endorphins- the feel good hormone; I never had drugs and alcohol, never smoked a cigarette and I always feel very high on life. I always try to channelize the same vibe."
Spilling the beans on her collaboration with Crocs, she said, "At the absolute end, my girls were supposed to go bare feet. We had tied up with another footwear designer which didn't work out. I thought I'd just put sand on them, and then suddenly Crocs came to invite us for a collaboration. Like magic, these girls managed to materialise some Crocs on all the feet. They were happy and comfortable and that's the spirit of Anupamaa - fashionable but very easy."
Deepak Chhabra, chief executive officer, Crocs India added, "Kickstart of ibfw with her was pleasure.her resort wear goes absolutely well with crocs... the DNA matches, collection was stunning."
The first day also witnessed a wide variety of beach-friendly styles for men, women and kids in the collections from designers Ken Ferns, Sanjay Hingu and Asif Merchant.
Celebrity and former Big Boss contestant, Lopamudra Raut graced the ramp for Ken Ferns, while the male models danced around her in vibrant signature clogs, swift water series and slip-on from Crocs.
Ferns' collection "SODA" focused on bright and happy colours and speaking on the essence of it, Ferns mentioned that Soda is that one element which binds everything together and gives the perfect fizz. With peppy music and the models interacting with the audience while walking the ramp, the show was a complete hit and appreciated by all.
Sanjay Hingu and Asif Merchant's collections were dreamy and played on the colours of blue and white. The collection was comfortable resort-wear for men while Asif's collection "ZAIB E TAN" was inspired from the Persian architectural design and print with primary colours of ivory and blue with a dash of sub-yellow sunset orange. From bikinis to wedding gowns for women and short jackets and suits for men, Asif's collection was just enough to plan your destination wedding. Both the designers showcased Crocs' latest collection ranging from Crocband Clogs, Citilane Roka, Camo slip-ons, flips and more.
