Bollywood producer furious with builder
Mumbai, Dec 30 : Bollywood producer Shabnam Kapoor Wednesday again denounced a Mumbai realty developer whose associates she said attacked and further injured her already broken arm over a property dispute.
A day after police arrested two men working for the controversial builder, Kapoor said she was still in pain.
"(The property developer) has been trying to force a re-development project on (the residents of her housing society) although 183 of the 357 members are opposed to him," Kapoor told IANS.
She lives in the bungalow colony of Aram Nagar in Versova here.
Since she has been spearheading the campaign against the realtor for "his obnoxious and nefarious attempts" to grab the "prime piece of property" in Versova, Kapoor said she had been regularly harassed.
The matter took a turn for the worse Tuesday when some men wanted to erect a hoarding on the property and she opposed them.
"At this, at least three men and six women assaulted me and injured me on my arm which was recently fractured, causing me immense pain," she said.
An official of the Versova police station said two men connected to the builder had been arrested.
They have been charged with intimidation, harassment and attempt to assault.
A former president of the powerful Indian Motion Pictures Producers Assocation, Kapoor has produced 14 films including "Deewana" starring Shah Rukh Khan. She also made "Hulchul" with Kajol and Ajay Devgan.
She is now directing a movie featuring Akshay Kumar, "Helloo India".
