Railway employees to get eco-friendly bulbs

Dankuni (West Bengal), Dec 26: The railways have taken up a project to distribute eco-friendly compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) to its 650,000 employees to bring down carbon emissions, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee said here Saturday.

"The railways have taken up the an eco-friendly initiative by providing CFL lamps to 6.5 lakh employees that will help in reducing the greenhouse gases," Banerjee said while inaugurating the project.

Banerjee also laid the foundation stone for two new railway factories in this Hooghly district town, about 50 km from Kolkata.
