Blast damages 100-year-old Pakistani mosque

Peshawar, July 15 : A powerful blast damaged a 100-year-old mosque in Pakistan's Khyber Agency. There were no casualties, a media report said Thursday.

The explosion took place late Wednesday night in tehsil Landi Kotal of Khyber Agency, causing extensive damage to a part of the mosque and some shrines, Geo TV reported quoting police sources.

No casualty or injury was reported due to the blast.

Sources said that some unidentified people blew up the mosque, Masjid-e-Ishkhel, and some shrines located within the boundary wall of the mosque late Wednesday night. The perpetrators managed to flee.

Thousands of devotees would come to visit those shrines that have been demolished, the caretaker of the 100-year-old mosque said.
