Flood control rooms set up in MP

Bhopal, July 15 : Flood control rooms have been set up by the office of Relief Commissioner in all 50 districts of Madhya Pradesh to meet any eventuality in case of excess rains during the monsoon.

Control rooms will be opened at the tahsil-level too if necessary.

A food control room has also been set up at the headquarters of Narmada Valley Development Corporation (NVDA), Narmada Bhavan, Bhopal, to exchange information pertaining to flood and relief operations pertaining to Narmada Valley projects, an official release said here.

At the office of the Principal Engineer, Bodhi, Water Resources Department, flood control section has also been opened at its data centre for collecting information about water level in rivers and dams.

The revenue department has made superintendent of land records as in-charge of flood control room in all districts.

The in-charge officer will immediately inform the relief commissioner and the concerned officers if flood-like situation arises. To inform the telephone and fax numbers of control room, the same will be published in local papers.

The flood control room opened at NVDA headquarters will collect information about water level in dams and inform the same to concerned districts and officers at 0600 hrs, 1200 hrs and 1800 hrs every day.

The control room will also inform about the water released from the dams and other information. The flood control room (Room No A-431) is under control of NVDA member (rehabilitation) and telephone number of the room is 0755-2526263 and fax number of 0755-2677535.

The telephone number of flood control section opened at data centre, water resources department is 0755-2420905 and 2420906. The telephone number of the state level control room is 0755-2441419 and fax No is 0755-2440032.
