Jammu, Jul 15 : Fifteenth batch of 2,102 pilgrims today left the base station Yatri Bhawan here for Shri Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas, an official spokespersons here said.
A total 2,102 Amarnath pilgrims, including 1,451 men, 439 women, 171 Sadhus and 41 children, proceeded towards respective yatra base camps at Nunwan (in Pahalgam) and Baltal in the Valley under tight security cover, the spokespersons said.
Escorted by a security vehicle, a convoy of 66 vehicles, including 35 State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) buses, 11 private passenger buses and 20 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), left the Yatri Bhawan here at 0430 hrs, he informed.
The two-month-long Amarnath pilgrimage, which commenced on July 1, is going on smoothly, sources said, adding that administration has made all arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the yatra.
As many as 50 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had been deployed to ensure security for yatris during the 55-day-long pilgrimage.
