Shillong, Jul 14 : Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma today inaugurated the Online System of Tax Receipt via Cyber Treasury at the Yojana Bhavan here.
The online system of tax receipt will enable registered tax payers to pay their taxes online through the internet by logging on to www.meghalayaonline.gov.in.
He said the launching of the e-payment of taxes through the cyber treasury is another indicator that we cannot live without IT.
The online system of tax receipt is the first G2C service in the state, which will ensure efficiency, transparency and productivity, Dr Sangma said.
The Chief Minister also urged upon all the registered tax payers to avail the facility, which is hassle-free and also eco-friendly in all aspects.
State Chief Secretary W M S said the system will benefit the state government enormously and will also help the State Finance Department in monitoring the financial position of the state with ease.
Meghalaya is the 21st state in the country to use this facility, while Assam is the first among the North Eastern states.
The website is integrated with the State Bank of India(SBI) and also with the treasury offices in the state. At present, only the SBI is having the facility.
