New Delhi, Jul 12 : The airport customs has arrested one person and detained another, on way to Dubai, after seizing nearly ten lakh Bangladeshi Takas from their handbag at the IGI Airport here.

The arrest was made following a tip-off. While five lakh Bangladeshi Takas were seized from Mohammad Hafeez Abbas (35), 4.5 lakh Bangladeshi Takas were found in 32-year-old Fardeen Ansari's bag, said a customs official adding that both had passed the security clearance when the detention was made on July 10.

After their checked-in luggage was offloaded and checked, Rs 17.5 lakh in Indian currency and 11.5 lakh in Bangladeshi Takas were found in Hafeez Abbas' luggage, besides voice recorders and some banned steroids.

''Interestingly, 30 kg 'khoya' (solidified condensed milk) was used to conceal the currencies.'' Both were on their way to Dubai on flight IT 041, the official added.
