Maoists kill four CPI-M men in West Bengal

Kolkata, Dec 18 : Four Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) activists were allegedly shot dead by Maoists and their associate People's Committee Against Police Atrocities (PCAPA) in West Bengal's West Midnapore district, police said Friday.

They also set fire to a sponge iron factory and several vehicles in the district.

Police said CPI-M worker Sisir Jana - a resident of Dharampur village - was fatally shot by suspected leftwing radicals Friday evening.

According to police, the rebels abducted had Thursday night three CPI-M workers from Bandhagara and Chandra villages. Their bullet-riddled bodies were found Friday morning.

Another CPI-M member Ganesh Hansda is in serious condition at the Midnapore Medical College Hospital after he was shot at by assailants at Chandra.

The rebels also set afire a sponge iron factory in Jitushole. A oil tanker was torched in Bankashole while three truckers was set on fire at Dherua.
