Lucknow, Dec 18 : Six Bangladeshi men have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district for their alleged involvement in a human trafficking racket, police said Friday.
"Acting on a tip-off from the officials of the intelligence department, we raided a hideout in the Tirahakala area and nabbed six Bangladeshis, who are in the age group of 22-25 years," police Inspector Jagveer Singh Atri told reporters in Saharanpur, 400 km from Lucknow.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the culprits would secretly bring Bangladeshi nationals to the country by promising them jobs and charged money from them.
"We are carrying out investigations to ascertain whether those arrested have any criminal background or links with clandestine outfits," added Atri.
