Shillong, Jul 8 : A sensitisation seminar on Geographical Indications would be held here tomorrow.
The seminar is being organise by Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks of the Government of India to help the state in identifying suitable products that could be considered for registration, a press statement issued here said.
Nagaland has naga chilly and Assam has some textile registered in the Registry office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks.
Meghalaya has some products like Lakadong Turmeric, Khasi Mandarin orange and a variety of cane and bamboos, musical instrument, medicinal plants and unique fruits, the statement said.
It is expected that office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks of the Government of India will help the state in identifying suitable products that could be considered fit for for such registration, sources added.
