London, July 7: Amazon.com, one of the world's biggest online shopping retailers, launched a home delivery grocery service in Britain Wednesday.
The online retailer is offering British customers a range of 22,000 household items.
These include international and specialist items from organic, kosher, gluten-free, sugar-free and vegetarian ranges besides products from multinational companies, the Independent reported.
Customers have the option of buying items in bulk or choose from a varied range of delivery options. They can place orders via a smartphone as well as a computer.
"Amazon's aim is to be the place where customers can find and discover any product they want to buy online. With the introduction of this new store, there are thousands of household, niche, ethnic and international grocery items, all available at the click of a button," James Leeson, Amazon's grocery director, was quoted as saying.
