PM arrives in Copenhagen for climate summit

Copenhagen, Dec 18 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived here Thursday night for the finale of the Dec 7-18 climate summit, an Indian government spokesperson said.

Due to the delayed take-off from Delhi, the prime minister was too late to attend the gala dinner for heads of state, where a political statement of intent from world leaders to tackle climate change was up for discussion, according to UN officials.

The prime minister will be briefed on the state of negotiations Friday morning, after which he would go to the conference venue. He also has a number of bilateral meetings lined up during his 24-hour trip, including one with Chinese premier Wen Jiabao.
