Bhutan hopes for political solution to Darjeeling problems

Kolkata, Dec 17 : Bhutan Thursday hoped that the problems in Darjeeling arising out of the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha's agitation for a separate Gorkhaland would be solved through a "political mechanism".

"I am very fond of Darjeeling. I hope that the problem of Darjeeling will be resolved through a political mechanism. I think they would find out some solution to resolve the issue," Bhutanese Foreign Minister Lyonto Ugyen Tshering told reporters here, after inaugurating a new consulate office here.

The three sub-division of Darjeeling district - Darjeeling, Kurseyong and Kalimpong - in northern West Bengal have been on the boil for quite some time following the demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland.
