Tripura LF re-nominates Ranjit as ADC Chief

Agartala, May 18 : The Left Front has nominated incumbent Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Ranjit Debbarma for the third term.

LF chairman and Loksabha member Khagen Das told the media here today that the front meeting yesterday had unanimously selected Mr Debbarma as the Chief in nine members' executive council of ADC while senior tribal leftist Mangsajai Mog was nominated as the Chairman.

Mr Debbarma and seven other members of the council would take oath today at the ADC headquarters at Khumlung while other councillors of 30 members ADC would be administered oath tomorrow by the chairman.

The Tripura Left Front has reiterated the electoral history by winning 27 of the 30-member Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) where election was held on May 3 last.

Of the 30 seats in the ADC, formed under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, two are nominated by the Governor and election to one seat kept in abeyance following death of a candidate.

The outgoing ADC had did not have any Opposition member. This time too Opposition Congress and Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura could not make any difference to the power equation.
