APSRTC suspends 40 buses due to bandh
Vijayawada, Nov 30 : Krishna Region of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) today suspended about 40 buses bound for Telangana region in view of the bandh called by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
The TRS had given the bandh call to protest the arrest of its party president K Chandrasekhar Rao at Karimnagar and other party leaders at Siddipet yesterday.
Talking to UNI, APSRTC Regional Manager A Koteswara Rao said the buses to Hyderabad, Khammam, Nalgonda and Bhadrachalam routes were suspended since early morning due to fear of stone pelting and damage by the agitators.
He said depending on the situation later in the day, a decision would be taken whether to allow running of buses on these routes.
The APSRTC would incur a loss of Rs 2.80 lakh due to the cancellation of the buses, he added.
