LinkedIn wraps four-months old Intro email service to focus on 'most relevant' stuff
LinkedIn has reportedly shut down its Intro mail service, four months after its roll out, in a bid to focus on 'most relevant' offerings to members.
The Intro service, launched in October last year, was aimed to integrate LinkedIn contact details right into the iOS Mail app, and apparently, it failed to strike a chord with users, due to its security concerns as LinkedIn was required to scan every email that came in a user's inbox.
According to Tech Crunch, soon after the service was launched, security researchers from Bishop Fox had called the service 'a dream for attackers,' while researcher at Mandiant, Richard Bejtlich, said that the service just completely breaks the idea that email traffic is going where it should go and no place else.
The LinkedIn Intro service would work until March 7th, after which it will be shut off completely.
Users of the service are required to disable Intro else their email accounts won't work normally after the shutdown date, the report added.
