Ukraine conflict has displaced more than 1 mln people: UN
A United Nations official has revealed that more than a million people have been displaced by the rising conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
UN's Vincent Cochetel said in Geneva that the number of people displaced inside Ukraine has doubled to at least 260,000 in the past week alone, reported the BBC.
Another 814,000 people have crossed over to Russia this year, he said.
Eastern Ukraine has been embroiled in conflict since April after pro-Russia separatists declared independence from Kiev after Crimea was annexed by Russia.
The report said that many of those who have left the areas hit by violence in eastern Ukraine have not registered themselves with the Ukrainian authorities and will therefore there is no guarantee if they will receive any aid from the government. Young men fear that they will be enrolled into the state armed forces if they declare themselves.
Meanwhile, the talks between Ukrainian officials, Russia and rebels ended without an agreement on Monday but will resume on Friday.
