Congress lashes at NDA Govt. for not addressing black money, corruption
Congress leader Anand Sharma today questioned the BJP-led NDA Government about the status of the SIT (Special Investigation Team) that was formed by it on the direction of the Supreme Court to probe acts of corruption and the trail of black money.
Addressing a press conference here today, Congress leader Anand Sharma said, "No one knows about the black money. The country wants to know that. They had formed an SIT on the orders of the Supreme Court. In the initial days for around a week there was quite a lot of talks on SIT saying they have done everything. But the thing is that the SIT has been formed but what have they done?"
Sharma further said that the country would have taken the present government seriously if there would have been no tainted ministers in it.
"We all are for effective stern action against corruption and probity in public life. Can the Prime Minister explain why 18 of his ministers are facing serious criminal charges, compelling the Supreme Court to make this observation that it is for the Prime Minister to ensure that those with a criminal background are not promoted or included in his council of ministers?"
The Narendra Modi-led NDA Government, which came to power after a stunning performance in the Lok sabha elections, is going to complete its first 100 days in power this month.
The BJP had promised during its election campaign to address issues relating to black money.
